Cattleya maxima 'Gorgeous'

Cattleya maxima 'Gorgeous'
x self
We saw the first blooms from this crop in August 2025—and they did not disappoint. This selfing of C. maxima ‘Gorgeous’ has produced a showstopping crop of strong plants with vibrant pink flowers that are more upright in form than is often true for maxima. Lightly fragrant.
Grown from seed, so flower characteristics vary somewhat from plant to plant. Blooms from multiple individuals in the crop are pictured.
Plants Available: Growing in 4” pots. Examples of the options available are pictured.
Orchid Care: Although this is a selected variety, in general, Cattleya maxima is known for being highly adaptable and easy to grow. Grow in high light—bright, but indirect sun. Provide strong air circulation and moderate humidity (~50%). The root system of the plant should be allowed to dry thoroughly between waterings. Fertilize with a weak solution on a weekly basis. As with many Cattleyas, plants will require more water and fertilizer during the hotter months of the year when plants are growing more rapidly. Water and fertilizer should be reduced as day length shortens and conditions are cooler and less humid.
