Lavender/coerulea form of Rhynchostylis coelestis, a vandaceaous species native to Southeast Asia. Plants are compact in growth habit. Blooms are fragrant.

Grown from seed so flower characteristics vary somewhat from plant to plant. Blooms from multiple plants are pictured to illustration variations.

Plants Available: Examples of the size available. Orders will be filled with plants in bloom as stock permits. Otherwise, mature plants that have bloomed previously.

Orchid Care: Grow in bright, filtered light (no direct sun), with good air circulation and high humidity. As with Vandas, Rhynchos can be grown bare-root, without substrate, established in wooden baskets or mounted.

Water generously and fertilize regularly while plants are in active growth (typically spring and summer). Reduce water and fertilizer somewhat during the cooler months, commensurate with the lowering of temperatures in the growing environment.

Note: These plants do not tolerate the cold. Protect them from temperatures below 50-60 F.
