Orchid Care: This genus—Monnierara—is a hybrid of Mormodes, Cycnoches, and Catasetum and belongs to the Catasetinae group. Plants begin to lose their leaves in fall—a signal to begin tapering water and fertilizer as plants enter their dormancy. Provide a dry winter rest, with no fertilizer. The pseudobulb will remain bare, with no new leaves on the plant until it puts out new growth in the spring. Wait until the new growth has roots a few inches long to resume watering. Water generously and fertilize regularly during active growth.
